Frequently asked Questions

  • How old do you have to be to do judo at EBJI?

Generally, we accept kids from 5 years old. Occasionally we offer a preschool class for 3 and 4 year olds. There is no upper age limit.
  • What are the monthly dues?

Dues are $75 per month for the advanced class, or $60 per month for the other classes. Family discounts are available, ask about them when you sign up.
  • What other costs are involved?

Everybody must be a member of a national organization (for insurance purposes). We are members of USJF. We can process those memberships, the cost is $50 per year. There's a one time processing fee of $20 and each student needs to have a uniform.
  • How much does a uniform cost and where can I buy one?

You can buy your uniform directly from EBJI, or anyplace else you choose. Cost is dependent upon the size of the uniform, but typically is $25-$75 depending upon size and brand.
  • Are there any other hidden costs?

No. We frequently do fundraisers and ask for donations, but it is not a requirement of membership.
  • Do you offer student discounts?

We do not offer student discounts at this time.
  • Where can I get forms to join?

You can come by EBJI (directions on the home page) or download them from the Resources section.
