August 6, 2008 – The Forbidden City

TIME: 0024hrs

Day 6 has come to an end.

I just got back to my room after playing a little … lot … of rock band and checking my emails. I am trying to resist the temptations that the wii is giving me, but it never works. It’s constantly saying, "Annie, come play, It’ll be a blast and you don’t want to miss out on that!" Tonight Garry, Kayla and I played with Joe (the wrestler) and Dave (the boxer) that are living here at BNU.

Today started out like EVERY OTHER day… breakfast (which I skipped because I wasn’t hungry) and then Judo practice. It was pretty laid back today… since the tournament is getting nearer. After practice, Marti, Michael , Asanuma Sensei and I went to McDonald’s for lunch. It was delicious. We couldn’t read the menu so we didn’t know what exactly we were ordering. All the sandwiches looked the same… but we ended up getting chicken. It was strange. But it was good none the least. After lunch we went back to the dorms to meet up with the rest of the crew to go to the Forbidden city.

The Forbidden City wasn’t what I expected. It was very interesting though don’t get me wrong. But to actually see the good stuff we had to pay. And since it was hot, the majority of the group didn’t want to keep walking around. The taxi ride and walk there was too much for some to bare. One the very end of our taxi ride, for some reason we weren’t moving … had to be about a good 5+ minutes. Our taxi driver turned the car off… therefore the air conditioning was off… and we were close enough to our destination that we all decided to get out of our cabs and walk. (Since there was 8 of us, we had 2 taxis). Once we finally reached the city, we were already tired. I’ll post pictures of the city and the square across the street. It was pretty interesting.

After walking through the Forbidden City, we called it a day and came back to the dorms. We watched a movie, had dinner and then some went to bed while we played wii. That was pretty much our day. Nothing too interesting. I think tomorrow we are going to try and go back to the Silk Market. We want to get a few more things. And on Friday hopefully they decided no practice so that we can go to the Great Wall. But we’ll see how that goes.

I’m calling it a night…
